Plan B - A Contraceptive Pill for Urgent Situation

Plan B can interact with some medicines, therefore their simultaneous consumption should be avoided. These medications are Macrolide antibiotics such as Erythromycin and Telithromycin, NSAIDs like Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen, etc.

Store the drug at room temperature. Avoid it from excess heat and moisture. Keep out the reach of children and pets.

Plan B is available in the tablet dosage form and is to be taken orally with a full glass of water. One tablet of Plan-B should be taken after 72 hours of unprotected physical intercourse. After 12 hours, take the second tablet of Plan B. Do not take this drug in over-dose as it can lead to adverse effects. It is important to remember that this is not an abortion pill; hence it is not effective if you are already pregnant.

·        Avoid driving after the intake of this drug as it produces dizziness and drowsiness.

·        Females who are allergic to generic Levonorgestrel should avoid the use of this drug as you may feel hypersensitive reactions like skin rashes and swelling.

·        If you are a breastfeeding mother then avoid the use of this drug because it can harm your baby.

·        This medicine is not prescribed for the females who are under the age of 16 years.
